Ion-Rat is a non-commercial fan project created solely as a tribute to Star Wars.
It originally began as an original webcomic following a crew of smugglers and bounty hunters, set in the aftermath of an event from one of Charles Soule's Star Wars comics.
Over time, the project gradually evolved into a personal creative playground that will eventually take the form of an artbook, a kind of stylistic exercise and exploration.
Here are some of the pieces I have created in my spare time over the past few years.
The original proof of concept, establishing the visual language of the Ion-Rat project. This skirmish scene is a tribute to the Outer Rim worlds, the smugglers and bounty hunters from this galaxy far far away.
The main ship, giving its name to the whole project. The Ion-Rat is a XT-3400 corellian freighter, inspired by the look of the SoroSuub X-34 landspeeder (the "Luke's landspeeder") and by the corellian XS Stock light freighter from The Old Republic.
The N-Wing starfighter is a reinvention of the Nantex-class Geonosian starfighter (Episode II) with the aesthetics of the Rebel Alliance's starfighters (X-Xing and A-Wing from Episode IV to VI).
The WA-LT4 astromech unit is a mix between the newly introduced A-LT units (Solo a Star Wars Story) and T3-M4 (from KOTOR).
Various props designs and 3D models.
I couldn't resist to recreate R2-D2 with the project's visual language.
A Gonk Droid...
The helmet of a special unit of Stormtroopers.
